Forty five days before the inauguration of Great Shravasti Stupa…
We were at the border between Thailand and Myanmar when we were given five Buddha
statues made up of stones from Mekhong River. We were also given 12 types of rock such
as spinel, ruby, sapphire, tourmaline, citrine, red coral, lapiz lazuli, amethyst, shell, rutialte,
garnet and peridot.
In Dehradun when we were performing Achi Puja for seven days, we
asked His Holiness about the uses of these stones. He said that these stones could be
brought to Shravasti and be kept at the top of the stupa. For us, being able to present such
semi precious stones in a great stupa in the land of Buddha is a great virtue.
A thought crossed our mind about sharing the opportunity of performing such virtue with our
Dharma friends and relatives as sharing such opportunity would have a snowball effect
without reducing the quality of the virtue itself.
Within one week we managed to include 727 donors who were willing to contribute so we
had to buy extra 24 kg stones from the Thailand-Myanmar border. In total, we had 36 kg
stones.
We thank His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon for his infinite loving-kindness to us that we have
the opportunity to perform various virtues. May Holiness always be healthy, have a long life and be
happy under the guidance of Triple Gems for the sake of all beings’ benefits.
We thank Lama Phuntsok Gyaltsen who brought 727 packages of semi precious stones on
which the names of the donors had been written from Indonesia to Dehradun, India.
We also
thank Lama Kinley Gyaltsen who brought the stones from Dehradun to Shravasti. We also
thank Drupon Stanzen Rinpoche and Lama Gyaltsen who filled the Great Shravasti Stupa, The main Buddha statue and statue of Achi Chokyi Drolma with the semi precious stones from Indonesia.
Thank to Miss Yani Lim and 500 Dharma Friend Indonesia that giving contribution for this programs and also 227 other Dharma friends from Indonesia, Singapore and USA.
May our contribution bring benefit to the spread of Buddha’s teachings and may this virtue we had performed with sincere heart and devotion to the Triple Gems bear good results.
May health, fortune and happiness always be with us under the protection of the Triple Gems.
May the Deva’s and Naga’s and all Dharma protectors also enjoy this virtue. May our
ancestors rejoice and for those who do not know our good deeds, may the Deva’s tell them.
May all beings be happy and free from suffering.
